Tree Caretakers
Thank you for volunteering to take care of a Kiwanis giving tree. Please check the Tree location spread sheet to determine which locations you have been assigned as caretaker.
As caretaker of a tree your responsibilities include:
Set up tree: Please contact your location ahead of time for a set-up date that is convenient for them. (Location contacts are listed on the tree location spread sheet.) Many of the locations have done this for several years so they know the drill. Our goal is to get all trees up before Thanksgiving. You will put the tree in the place designated by the location’s owner or manager, and hang all the tags on the tree, unless the owner wishes to do so. You will also be given a Kiwanis poster to place near the top of the tree. The poster will include the date for returning gifts to the tree (12/9) as well as sign-up information for needy families wishing to participate in the gift event.
Tags for gift items: Your tags for your trees will be delivered the week of the week of November 13 . Each volunteer will be given about 50- 100 tags per tree. If all the tags get picked up from your tree, please hang new tags. Feel free to rehang any tags that are returned with gifts as long as they are in good shape. (The tags are not child specific.) Contact your caretaker (name on envelope), Vaughn, Joe or Debby if you need more tags.
Gift pick up: Please pick up gifts regularly at your location. You may take the gifts to the Snoqualmie Chamber in North Bend at any time, or you may choose to keep them at your home, and take them all to the Casino anytime throughout the day on 12/11. You should check your site a couple times before the pick up date and at least once after the pick up date. (some gifts come in late.)
Gift delivery and tree take down: Please pick up all your gifts and get them to the casino on 12/11. If you need help with pick up, call another Kiwanis member. Do not take down your tree at this time unless the owner requests you to. Gifts will keep coming and will be saved for next year. Gifts will be gathered until end of business on 12/31. When you make your final tree pick up , please pick up remaining gifts and tags and take them to Kiwanis storage or contact another Kiwanis member for pick up help.
Follow up: Please text Debby at 425.392.6835 to confirm that you have picked up the gifts at each of your locations. If a text is not received by noon on 12/11 another volunteer will be sent to that location.
